Summary of the Story
The Day of Pentecost is a top three event in New Testament history. This was soon after the Lord Jesus ascended to heaven, His disciples being in one accord together in Jerusalem, waiting for the promise He spoke of. And then, there was the sound of a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the house, and tongues appeared as fire over each believer. All the Holy Spirit filled them, and they spoke diverse tongues so that people of all nations heard the Word of God in their own tongue.
Peter was bold and preached to Adam and Eve about Jesus Christ and went on to follow Jesus Christ in repentance. On that day, approximately 3000 were converted and baptized; it was in reality the birth of the Christian Church. Introduction

Historical Background of Pentecost
Pentecost originally was an ancient Jewish harvest and thanksgiving festival. On this day people from all parts came to pay thanks for the grace of God. That made the city super populous, bustling with activity and languages on every street.
And it is this strange atmosphere that made the event all the more momentous. When the Holy Spirit came down from Heaven it was not just a few people, thousands of witnesses saw. That day God redeemed an old festival and paved a golden new beginning.
The vow that was fulfilled
When Jesus Christ was alive on earth and about to die, he promised his disciples that he would not leave them, but send a helper who he would tell all the truth. This was a relief for them as they worried about their Master having departed the faith.

The disciples assembled in an upper room and there prayed without ceasing. Of course, this was more than a building, but a place of spiritual orientation. But it was nothing but a moment of anticipation, faith, and reverence right away.
So they were waiting for the resurrection of God, with one heart and one mind and faith. Their hearts were also afraid because their Master had passed away from this world. Out of this fear too arises the hope that God would never forsake them.
Was this upstairs room, full of silence but even fuller of prayer, hope and concern? And spirituality preparation. That was where a new church would be built.
Jerusalem’s Environment and Worship
There were massive crowds all around Jerusalem at the time. They were from places unique to them, and held their own languages, traditions and means of worship. The city felt romantic and parochial as ever but that day was going to be different.

The purpose of spiritual strength
It was descending from the Holy Spirit, not just to shock interests but with a purpose. It was really to strengthen the disciples in courage, wisdom and power for witnessing. Those who had been silent for fear of losing their jobs were able to speak the truth and deliver the message.
And this spiritual power drove them not just to preach but gave them a newfound zeal and favor to take the work of God out into the world. That power reinforced them internally, supplied them with the light in their hearts that faith can provide to erase any fright.
The fun
The most remarkable miracle was that the disciples spoke in other languages. Everyone heard them speak in their own languages. It was evidence that when God is involved, his power can touch any community or language.

In Jerusalem
Upon hearing this, the whole city was deeply astonished. Divine miracle, some said; but others ridiculed. Questions soon started springing up everywhere and an attempt to decipher how real it was.

The Holy Spirit gives us courage to overcome obstacles, serve others in love, and be faithful to your calling. All believers should aspire to be Spirit-following, Jesus-like in character and love.
Peter’s title
- The beginning of courage
Peter confidently began to address the crowd. This man who had once been so fearful now was boldly declaring the message of God. His voice carried some faith, and his exact words were kind of magical.

He quoted from ancient scriptures. Peter clarified that the event was not accidental, it was already predetermined by God.
