Prayer is one of the ways which we communicate with God Almighty. It is the key path to be in communion with God. It helps us build a solid spiritual foundation with God. Through this means of commune, we can request for favour, knowing that He is in our midst, and He listens to us. James 5:16 “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
PURPOSE OF PRAYER
In communion with Abba Father through prayers, we invite His presence of grace, we lay everything we have before Him, we worship and adore Him and give Him all the praise and acknowledge His mighty works upon our lives. We use this opportunity to communicate our requests to God directly and asks for His Grace mercy and favour not only for ourselves but for others, this can only be possible when we have confessed our sins and are in one accord with God before we can seek to pray for others. James 4:10 says “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up” and Proverbs 22:4 says “Humility is the fear of the Lord,” when we fear the Lord, we show love towards others, we focus on what truly matters, the life that we live and everything we have comes from God so we must show our gratitude by offering thanksgiving unto His Holy name so that we can finally align our purpose through the transformative power of God to follow God’s will.
PRAYER FORMAT
All prayers intended for God is heard by God no matter the format. At Asameiny, we are happy to give a suggestion of the prayer format which you can build on if you currently do not have. You can use it to incorporate into your daily devotions and build it to suit your situation.
Building a prayer format is very useful so that you do not forget important aspects of prayer and they help to guide you as you pray along, so that you are not easy carried away. Use this guide to build upon what suits you best, do not forget we are here to guide you through. You can use the “ACTS” model which is easy to remember.
Adoration, where you sing praises to God almighty, give Him all the Honour and Majesty He deserves to invite Him into your presence.
Confession, where you acknowledge all, you have done against His will and teachings, humbly ask for forgiveness for all your sins; those you remember and those you do not remember and ask Him to guide you to righteousness.
Thanksgiving, is where you express how grateful you are for everything that He has done for you, for forgiving you, provisions, blessings, Grace, protection, guidance, etc
Supplication is where you lay down all your requests and ask for favour.
You can now choose the best way you wish to conclude the prayer, but you say “AMEN” to mean “so be it” or “let it be so.” Also remember to pray the “Lord’s prayer” everyday. Matthew 6:9-13 offers the how we should pray.

Just as the fog covers the paths in the morning, so we feel, or it appears, when we are heavy-laden. Healing is not only physical, but it starts with the soul. The peace of heart and mind can be the starting point of our physical healing. Invite Jesus Christ into whatever situation you need healing for, and prayer is that pathway you need to connect the physical worries or anxieties to the spiritual healing.
As you pray, remember to assume a comfortable prayer posture that can enable you breathe well especially in the times of anxiety and panic. Follow the prayer format and invite Him to your presence. Express His Sovereign authority over your life and acknowledge His power to heal you from the situation. Pour out your heart to Him and tell Him everything you feel especially about the situation even though He is aware. Surrender everything to God and cast all your burdens at His feet. Claim a scripture that affirms your case, in this case, a scripture that promises healing and proclaim that healing or that peace by faith. Give thanksgiving to God and prophesy your healing in Jesus’ name. Pray with Psalms from the Bible that speak to your healing situation and listen to the voice of God.
3 Hope in God
Romans 15:13 says “May God, the giver of hope fill you with joy and peace, by trusting in Him you can abound in hope and with the power of the Holy Spirit”. Jesus Christ gives hope to the hopeless who call on Him focusing on the Hope of salvation. 1Thessalonians 5:8, “but since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet”. Our daily devotions guides and directs us through the day by serving as a motivation, uplifting our spirit to act in a certain way. Our prayers and reflections help us to walk with the Holy spirit to direct our ways through the right path. Every morning, trusting that God can see us through every challenge with prayers maintains our Faith and Love in Him. Our hope is built on Him alone, He is our solid rock.
4 Prayers For Strength
Our morning devotions help you to start your day fresh with Jesus Christ, it does not only give you a routine but strategizes your day by acknowledging Jesus Christ. Praying for strength especially in the morning awakens your spirit, body and soul, all noises including your gadgets come later. God equips you with all you need for the day ahead. The prayer guide enables you to start your day with God, adore and sing praises unto His name to invite Him into your presence, confess to anything that might be in your way of receiving His blessings. Surrender your schedule of the day to Him and ask for strength in every place where there is weakness in your life, ask Him to renew His mercies in your life and protection over you and your family. Give thanksgiving to God and prophesy your renewal in Jesus’ name. Lift your hands and receive His strength. Pray with Psalms from the Bible that speak to your renewal situation and listen to the voice of God.
5 Renewed Strength
Strength is not always about physical power. True strength comes from faith, resilience, and the courage to face our challenges. When we feel weak and exhausted, God promises to renew our strength. Isaiah 40:31 reminds us: ‘But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.’ This renewal happens when we surrender our burdens to God and trust in His plan. Every morning brings a new opportunity to draw strength from our faith. Whether you face obstacles at work, in relationships, or within yourself, remember that you are never alone. God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness, 2 Corinthians 12:9, “but He said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Today, let your faith be your anchor and your source of renewed strength.
6 Prayers For Guidance and Direction
When things become unclear, decisions are hard to make, there is no way ahead, run to God for clarity and guidance. Some happenings or events of life might seem difficult to understand, even beyond human reasoning, take it to God for clarity and make your path straight as Proverbs 3:5-8 tells us.
Remember to pray using the prayer format, start by inviting God to your presence, confess to Him, submit to His will and surrender to Him your difficulty, ask for discernment of the Holy Spirit and request for wisdom and knowledge in everything you do. Speak to Him as if you could see or touch Him and wait for His response. Even if the answer is not immediate, exercise patience, continue believing till an answer comes; through thanksgiving and worship Trust in God’s response with obedience and faith in your heart for the Almighty God is all knowing, be sure that He cannot lead you to a wrong path. Always try to write down your prayer requests/points and keep them in your Bible so that you can use them every time you pray. Give thanksgiving to God and prophesy to your situation in Jesus’ name. Lift your hands to receive the blessings of His knowledge and wisdom. Pray with Psalms from the Bible that speak to your situation and continue to listen to the voice of God.
7 Gift Of Patience
We are called as Christians to be calm, act wisely and above all, perseverance in certain situations. A calm mind thinks better, strategize better and achieve the best results. 1Corinthians 13:4 says “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.” Love is the greatest of all God’s gifts. Therefore, in order to get God’s love, we must be patient. When there is love, every good thing follows. In our communities, family and friends we must be patient with those who are not yet on same level as us. God knows why the difference, be patient and understand why God decided to bring them closer to you. A man who is the head of the family must raise the family with love towards his wife and children and God will bless them abundantly. Raising a family is not easy but with perseverance, endurance and love, God directs our path, and it feels very easy. Our prayer is for God to direct us through every path of endurance and patience and lift the burden we bear so that we can find love in patience.
7 Prayers For Gratitude and Thanksgiving
Gratitude is always a product of a joyful heart when it truly comes from within. Thanksgiving is not only for national holidays or church/community celebration days, but we are also supposed to praise God under every circumstance whether good or bad, Colossians 3:17, “and whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the father through Him” We encourage Christians to start worship with a grateful heart, Psalm 100:4, “enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise His name.” God Almighty is merciful and kind to us, He gives us all we need whether we deserve or not, whether we call on Him or not, we can still receive the basic of what we need. We might become so familiar with the things He does for us daily like providing water, food, shelter, air, the family we have, etc, and we are carried away with our big demands that we forget to thank Him for the things that sustain us to the level of asking Him for other requests. Thank God everyday and every moment of your life for the things you are aware of and those you are unaware of for He does mighty things everyday and fights our battles for us. Pray and share with others your testimony and the Grace of God over your life/household, how he stood by you day and night, how He transformed a situation which was beyond your physical power/strength/understanding, and restored peace, whatever the situation was, share it and pray that the same grace comes over others seeking it. Encourage others to run to God in times of frustration or trouble and seek Him in all situations for there is enough Grace for the willing.
Praise God all day long, start your prayers with thanksgiving of gratitude, confess to Him all you have done and He has forgiven you, He is kind and just, He is faithful and His mercies are renewed in our lives daily, He sent His only son to die for our sins, all we can do is praise and worship His Holy name, we bring everything to His throne of Grace and Honour His Majesty, the King of kings, we thank Him for everything we can remember and those we cannot remember, what He has done, what He is doing and what He is yet to do in our lives. Pray with Psalms from the Bible that speak to your situation and continue to listen to the
8 The Rejected Becomes Essential
Jesus is the cornerstone to your spiritual foundation, without Him everything you build is in vain. Isaiah 28:16 says, “so this is what the sovereign Lord says: See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic.” Sometimes we are rejected by our family, friends and even the most trusted of people, there is no need to feel alone because you are not actually alone, God is always by you, guiding you all the way, rejection might be a good time for reflection and removal from too much noise so that you can hear God’s voice clearly and rise up to the level which makes you to glorify Him. Through this silent reflection and growth, you will not chase those who rejected you, they will chase after you and find their way back. Psalm 118:22, “the stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” Success can be very loud, and success built on Jesus Christ is joyful and permanent.
Hope In God
Romans 15:13 says “May the God of hope, fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Jesus Christ gives hope to the hopeless who call on Him focusing on the Hope of salvation 1Thessalonians 5:8 “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. Our daily devotions guide and directs us through the day by serving as a motivation, uplifting our spirits to act in a certain way. Our prayers and reflections help us to walk with the Holy spirit to direct our ways through the right path. Every morning, trusting that God can see us through every challenge with prayers maintains our Faith and Love in Him. Our hope is built on Him alone, He is our solid rock.
Prayers For Good Thoughts
The relationship between our thoughts and God. God dwells in our heart and our heart is the temple of God. When our minds are crowded with unpleasant thoughts, our Hearts cannot be receptive to the Spirit of God. Sometimes we are not able to sleep, to eat, to learn or behave appropriately because someone has caused us unbearable pain. Our heart is troubled, and our minds are racing with all sorts of unpleasant thoughts to combat that feeling, we think of ways to take our revenge, we find ways of inflicting even greater pain to the offender, we devise various means to dampen the pain like losing valuable time drinking our sorrows away, thinking the pain will disappear but it only comes back double, we become sick just because we thirst for revenge. We think of many drastic decisions and forget the things that truly matters. Take a moment sit and pray, meditate on God’s word, His Love for you, Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God sacrificed His life for us and still forgave everyone who did this, so does our Father in Heaven expect us to forgive those who offend us. The burden of unforgiveness is greater on the person who refuses to forgive than the offender, God who sees everything will judge accordingly. The process to forgiveness is not usually easy, it may be long and painful going through all the stages of grief and even loss but even with baby steps, we will get to the finish point, do not give up. Psalm 55:22, “Cast your burden on Him and He will give you rest; never will He allow the righteous one to fall.” He will free you when you free yourself by choosing to forgive, you will find total freedom when you unimprison yourself from all the hurt. When your heart is free, then God’s spirit can come to dwell in it, walk and direct you to find lasting peace and happiness. In this walk with God, the thoughts in your mind will align with your heart and the light of God upon you will shine brighter. 2 Corinthians 10:5-6 says “we pull down every proud obstacle that is raised against the knowledge of God; we take every thought captive and make it obey Christ.
And after you have proved your complete loyalty, we will be ready to punish any act of disloyalty.” Philippians 4:8 therefore says, “In conclusion, my friends, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honourable.” “And above all things that you guard, guard your heart for everything you do flows from it, your life is shaped by your thoughts”. Proverbs 4:23.
Our Prayer is for God to help us to guard our hearts and align it with our thoughts, and to also teach us to forgive others as He has forgiven us. Use the prayer format to pray, invite God to the scene and request that His thoughts be your thoughts, His actions be your actions, His words be your words and above all let His will be done. Pray with Psalms from the Bible that speak to your situation and continue to worship Him all day.
More Grace At Lent
God’s Grace is never ending, and His mercies are forever, we just need to ask from a repentant heart. Unlock His endless Grace with prayers, meditate more during this period of lent on our scriptures, prayers and reflections of the day, our quiet contemplation songs can be used during day, be always more in the mood for prayer and meditation. Choose a favourite verse from the Bible to recite in your heart like “God is Love” to distract your mind and ask God for His mercy and favour. For those who choose to fast, there are various ways of fasting not only by avoiding food or drink, but you can also search for what suits you and your condition/situation best. Some suggestions we can make on how to fast; start your fast with a prayer then scripture, prayer and reflections, continue with intervals of any of the following: prayer/ meditation/ sermon/ service/worship/ recite your verse etc, during the day and break your fast with a prayer. Fasting is a way of communicating with the living God; by starving the flesh in order to refill with His spiritual gifts, and he will reward you accordingly.
Prayers For Intercession
Standing in the gap for others in prayer is usually not easy but it shows great love not only for them but for God. It makes us to respect one of the greatest gifts of God and His commandment. God Almighty is all-loving and expects us to be just like Him. Sometimes we intercede for our family, friends, community, nation and the world at large for various reasons, sickness, difficult situations, marital stress, depression and sufferings of all types, wars, loss, etc and even during breakthrough and happy times; so that it continues without failing. God always stands with us, Matthew 18:20, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
When we pray, we first invite the presence of God, we confess our sins to Him so that we can intercede for others from a pure heart. Bring the target of intercession to the presence of God through faith, pray over the specific situation whether physical or spiritual, prophesy using scripture over them and proclaim the blessings of God over them. Give thanksgiving to God and prophesy healing or positivity over their lives in Jesus’ name. Pray with Psalms from the Bible that speak to their healing or situation and be consistent while listening to the voice of God and observing, to their great testimony.
The Language Of Love
Love is a command from God, John 15:12 “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” It is not optional to choose to hate or love. The people you meet every day are people who were set to meet you at a certain point in life or for a period. It is not by chance that you meet these people. The most important questions we need to ask ourselves is why are we meeting this person? What is their role in our life? How can we get all the advantages from meeting this person? Not everyone is very receptive at first sight, so what must we do to bring out that receptive side of this person. It is mostly through love, simple acts of kindness. Some people have a materialistic side, others have a conversational receptive side, some might need time to trust you in order to be receptive, etc. The tools to understanding is within you, you just need to ask for guidance on how to use them properly. Love is one of the greatest gifts of all, 1 Corinthians 13:13 “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” Love one another and you will receive more in return, it always comes back, it is never lost, it might not come back directly but indirectly, so do not be bothered, God sees your heart.
