Summary of the Story
The Sermon on the Mount is known as the greatest, most profound, and most mysterious message of the New Testament of the Bible. People started to flock around Jesus Christ when he started his ministry. Some listened to his wisdom, some were amazed at his miracles, and some were thirsty for spiritual nourishment. In this period Jesus was sitting on a mountain, and He started to teach his disciples and the people the greatness of God.
This message was not only for those people; it was for people of all ages. The Sermon on the Mount teaches us what success is, what true faith is, and what a real believer should do. It gives messages of heart change, love, forgiveness, prayer, patience, and complete trust in God. These sermons challenge man to both external and internal purity.
Frozen water
The name of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) had become known everywhere in the region. He was so popular that people traveled from all over to listen to and watch him. Some were people who were hoping for healing, some expecting answers.
Their questions, and others just to know about the wonders of God. A message was started, not only for those of that time, but it is still heard, understood, and applied worldwide today. This sermon is really a sermon about the greatness of God; it’s a golden blueprint of the life of the believer.
Happy people
Wealth, fame, power, and success are blessings in the world, but not so in the eyes of Jesus! He was very emphatic that even those who are weak and unworthy in the eyes of the world are blessed in the sight of God.
He said, “Blessed are those who are persecuted on the good side of the story; for them is the glory of God. Those who are heavy-hearted, they will be comforted; those who are healthy and soft-hearted, they will inherit the earth; those who hunger and thirst for goodness, they will be given what they desire; those who are merciful, they will be shown the mercy; and the peacemaker will be called the children of God.
These words were utterly new to the people of that time, for they were a message quite new to the accepted world beliefs of that time. Jesus was saying, “The blessings are not in the outward appearance but in the radiant state of being within.
Light and salt
Light dispels darkness and shows the way. Jesus had taught that life. The believer should be like a light that brings the other to God. He said a lamp is not lit and kept in the dark but is set on a lampstand so that all the people can see its light. So a true believer is an example for others to follow because of his good works.
These stories remind us that faith is not all on the lips; it is a way of life. The believer’s light is the light of God manifested in his character, creation, and authority.
Fulfillment of Sharia
Jesus assured the people that God is not just watching their outward actions but the heart as well. Hating, coveting, and lying, too, are in God’s book. So what is not enough is simply to look clean from the outside. It is also required to be clean within.
These thoughts were leading people away from superficiality and towards purity of heart. Jesus told her that at the heart of God’s Law was bringing about a transformation within man, which would lead to the manifestation of truth, mercy, and purity.
The purity of intention and heart
Jesus was very clear that the key to a bright life isn’t what you do but what you intend to do. Outward good is not enough to produce full light when evil is in the heart. So he called people to make a deep search of their hearts.
He made it clear that murder is not only committed by the hands but also by unjustified anger and hatred that kills the heart. Adultery is just not a physical crime but a corruption of the heart by evil eyes and evil thoughts.
Not only is lying “in the mouth,” but also it is a product of inner dishonesty. Hence, the law is extended from the outer boundaries to the inner heart; therefore, Jesus (peace be upon him) has attained it to the right level of the heart.
Message of Love
Among Jesus’ great loves and enthusiasms in his earthly ministry was the call to love your enemies. “All worldly beings love those who love them and respond well to those that do them kindly. Only one who is truly Christ-like can offer love to those who hate him. Thus, Christ’s teaching of loving one’s enemies not only transcends worldly behavior but also reveals what Christ himself modeled.”
In other words, a person reaches the pinnacle of spiritual maturity when he not only doesn’t look down upon an adversary but also prays and offers him a kind deed without a hint of animosity, an almost humanly-impossible level of love. This parable is in fact a magnificent portrait of the character of the Most Loving.
The importance of prayer
Next, Jesus noted the use of prayer. Prayer should not be made for outward appearances. If a man wants to pray just to be praised, he weakens the mysterious essence of prayer.
God takes the sincerity of the heart into account. Accordingly, prayer should be made sincerely, trusting in God and leaning on Him. Jesus clarified that it is the sincerity of the heart that is more significant than the overt language of the prayer. God, loves to find a heart that bows to Him more than elaborate words.
Then Jesus instructed a unique prayer. Known today as the Lord’s Prayer, it contains praise towards God, the wisdom of His sovereignty, the provision of daily food, begging forgiveness, and repenting.

Jesus considered worldly politics the greatest obstacle on the path. He stated that virtue, prayer, and worship should not be undertaken publicly. If this is simply done for praise, the true gain from the act is decreased. He stated that if a person tries to be silent, God, the Merciful, sees him.
Today, the notion remains applicable, as society often has the need to appear good and righteous from the outside. The feeling of sadness
Jesus said that those who forgive, God also forgives. Along with forgiving the other person, you gain lightness in your heart. Whereas, by keeping enmity in your heart, your heart deteriorates and you suffer mentally; along with it, you also lose God’s mercy.
He taught that it is our duty to forgive those whose sin has been forgiven by God, and by not forgiving, man will not achieve the ultimate mercy. Thus, forgiveness is a great gift of the mercy of God; otherwise, in the absence of mercy, the heart remains troubled, and neither are those with the Lord nor is his world established. Heavenly treasures and earthly love
“Store up treasures in heaven,” Jesus told his people, “not on earth.” Earth’s riches fade when mice and thieves come to them. Dust rots treasures, as does time and all that can spoil things, but gold doesn’t spoil; it will last for a long time.
Where a man’s treasures are, that’s where his heart will follow. He said our eyes are windows, allowing a light into our souls to penetrate our entire lives. If your eyes are good and clear, they flood you with light.
If your eyes are bad and perverted, darkness comes in. It’s how a man sees the world and what he thinks about life that directs everything he does. A person can’t be devoted to two lords, Jesus taught. “Either you will love the one and hate the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other.” The message?
The King of God
Jesus told people to focus their hearts on the will and righteousness of God and to always put Him first. “Seek first to do the righteousness of God and obey his commands, and all these things will be added to you. This kingdom and command is what his people follow in all things to succeed, even today.” Not only does the kingdom of God represent a future event. It also refers to being ruled and submitted to the will of God in the here and now.
When God’s divine influence affects a person, there can be no aspect of their life that remains unchanged from our families and homes to the places where we worship and relate with others.”
Jesus went on to teach us that to find the narrow path to the closed gate, believers need to deny themselves and take it. The road in life that looks most fun or easiest may not necessarily be leading in the correct direction for all of us to find salvation. Often the narrow gate that leads to a life of fullness through glory leads through a road with many challenges, demands, submission, and sacrifice.

Life Application
The Sermon on the Mount calls Christians to live differently from the world, emphasizing humility, forgiveness, honesty, compassion, and love instead. Those who have faith in God should not expect to be afraid and anxious, but rather be able to trust God with the necessities of life each day. The teachings of Jesus include forgiving others, seeking the Kingdom first and letting God’s Word be part of every decision you make. As Christians, we are told to be light to the world through our words, actions and attitudes.
Avoiding criticism and the golden rules
Avoid slander and other such golden rules. Jesus warned us to avoid making fun of others and also avoid making fun of ourselves! He encourages us to take a glance inside our own selves before we point a finger at others. After all, you shouldn’t point out a speck in the eye of your neighbor when there is a greater speck in your own eye!
He was encouraging justice, tolerance, and fairness towards all our brothers and sisters. He encouraged that whatever attitude or treatment we expect from other people, then we should offer them.
It sounds too simple, too good to be true, right?

In His final narrative, Jesus concluded His story with another parable on two houses. This parable illustrated two types of homes: one on solid ground and another on the sand. During wind, storms, and rains, each was subjected to destruction, though not in the same measure.
When wind and storms raged, the house on sand tumbled and fell. But the one house on a foundation of rock stood firm. And Jesus declared that the lives of people who heard His teachings and heeded them are similar to building a house on a rock.
